* L&B trucking sold to former C&S executive

BrattleboroVT,USA -The Brattleboro Reformer, by BOB AUDETTE -May 8, 2008: -- When Luke and Diane Bazin decided they wanted to sell their homegrown business, L&B Freightliner, Sterling and Western Star, it wasn't about the money... It was about finding the right buyer who would treat their 55 employers like the family they had become in the nearly 30 years since the company opened its doors... They were so concerned about finding the right fit, it took nearly 10 years to pull the trigger... Wistreich, most recently a senior executive at C&S Wholesale Grocers, came from New York City nine years ago, and helped negotiate deals for C&S that increased annual sales from $3 to $19 billion... Trucks from Webster Trucking Corp. and Brattleboro Haulage, which are contracted out by C&S, use L&B for some of their service needs, said Wistreich... In addition, L&B services trucks for national firms such as Penske, Ryder and J.B. Hunt and local firms such as BDR Transport in Bellows Falls... Bazin said what he would miss most about the business is the 55 people who work for him and his wife... "They're really our family members," he said...
