Con Theodosis loves his job
Toowoomba,Queensland,Australia -The Toowoomba Chronicle, by Marion Raats -May 08, 2008: -- ... He's been a truckie for nearly 50 years and in all that time he's never had an accident... In fact, he's so good at what he does that he's in the running for the 8th. National Professional Driver of the Year Award... Mr Theodosis, 66, is one of 11 finalists nationwide in the Australian Trucking Association annual awards. The winner will be announced on May 30... Mr Theodosis was nominated for the award by his employers, Simon National Carriers... As a long-haul driver for 15 years, doing runs like Toowoomba to Adelaide and Perth, he was clocking up 270,000 km every 12 months... These days he's taking it relatively easy, driving between Toowoomba and Brisbane each day... So what makes him such a safe driver? "You have to be alert and try to judge the other person's driving," he said... His advice to less experienced truckies entering the industry: "Rest as soon as you get tired. That's very important. The freight can wait."
