* New Zealand - Toll buys Northland trucking company
New Zealand -TVNZ -May 8, 2008: -- Toll Holdings has dipped into its newly acquired war chest to buy Northland trucking company United Carries... Toll's rail and ferry assets were bought by the government for $665 million on Monday following months of negotiation, returning the trains and ferries to Crown ownership after they were originally sold off 15 years ago for around $400 million... Toll signalled it planned to use the money to pursue aggressive growth in New Zealand and has signed a conditional purchase agreement for United Carriers...
