* Panama - DHL inaugurates new hub in Central America

Panama City,Panama -Truck News, byLou Smyrlis –7 May 2008: -- DHL inaugurated today what it claims to be the industry's largest hub in Central America... With the new facility, DHL has increased its capacity to sort up to 5,000 packages per hour, representing a 250% jump from its previous shipping handling capacity...


* New Zealand - Toll buys Northland trucking company

New Zealand -TVNZ -May 8, 2008: -- Toll Holdings has dipped into its newly acquired war chest to buy Northland trucking company United Carries... Toll's rail and ferry assets were bought by the government for $665 million on Monday following months of negotiation, returning the trains and ferries to Crown ownership after they were originally sold off 15 years ago for around $400 million... Toll signalled it planned to use the money to pursue aggressive growth in New Zealand and has signed a conditional purchase agreement for United Carriers... The trucking company employs 360 staff and has a fleet of 220 vehicles...
