Rules - USA - 'No trucks' rule to be expanded
Houston,TX,USA -Houston Chronicle, by RAD SALLEE -Nov. 6, 2005: -- The "no trucks in left lane" rule that police say has improved safety on some local freeways will be expanded soon... On Oct. 27, the Texas Transportation Commission approved the rule for U.S. 290 (Northwest Freeway) from Loop 610 to Mueschke near Cypress, and extended it on Interstate 10 East (East Freeway) from the Houston city limits near Uvalde to Spur 330 (Decker Drive) in Baytown... Texas law requires traffic studies and public meetings before the lane restrictions are adopted for a particular road, so they have been applied piecemeal in Houston. Interstate 45 North (North Freeway) and Texas 225 have similar rules, but U.S. 59 and I-45 South (Gulf Freeway) do not... The rule will be in force on the two new segments as soon as the signs are put up, or in about a month...
