Road infrastructure the key to increasing volumes
Bombay,India -Financial Express -Nov 07, 2005: -- The fortunes of the Indian commercial vehicle (CV) industry are closely linked to the prospects for road transportation in the country. The two major modes of transport in the country are roads and railways. Road transportation is estimated to take care of around 70% of the passenger traffic in India and nearly 85% of the goods traffic. Over the years, there has been a shift towards roads away from railways with the share of road transport in the overall traffic flows increasing steadily... Even in the long term, the growth prospects for CVs remain positive given the significant investments planned in the roads and highways sector and the competitive advantage of roadways over railways...
