Australia -Supply Chain Review -7 Nov 2005: -- The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has welcomed the announcement that transport ministers have approved draft legislation to support 26-metre B-Doubles... In a statement, they say the approval provides an excellent opportunity for industry to broaden its flexibility within fleet management, and see the introduction of new safety initiatives while maintaining the current payload capacity of the all-important B-Double combination... It urges all jurisdictions to work quickly through the implementation parameters that will support the 26m B-Double legislation including the assessment of front under run protection systems (FUPS) and the key trailer measurement, which will ensure continued carriage of 34 pallets in an overall combination length of 26m...
