TRUCKS and BUSES PURCHASE * Bangladesh - BRTC

* Dhaka - BRTC to buy 500 cargo trucks, 600 buses with Indian LoC



... The state-owned transport service provider -- Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) -- has undertaken two separate projects to buy 500 cargo trucks and 600 buses with the Indian loan... A senior ministry official said the BRTC would procure buses and trucks from the Indian market within next three years up to June 2019... According to the BRTC, it would procure 500 cargo trucks at a cost of Tk 2.17 billion ($27.8 million)... In another project, the state-owned transport service provider will import 600 AC and non-AC buses at Tk 5.81 billion ($74.49 million) with the financial support of India... According to the BRTC's plan, they would procure 350 trucks with a capacity of 15 tonnes and another 150 trucks with 10 tonnes capacity... Besides, it will import 300 double-decker buses, 200 single-decker AC buses and 100 single-decker non-AC buses... Meanwhile, Bangladesh used successfully US$862 million from the first $1.0 billion LoC for the 15 projects including railway, road, transport and laboratory development. Seven of the total 15 projects under the first LoC have been completed and the rest are at various stages of implementation, officials said...
