* UK - Iveco moves up as new products and business plant bite
London,EN,UK -Transport Engineer -14 Jan 2013: -- Conceding that Iveco's performance last year in three- and four-axle construction vehicle sales was disappointing (35% and 24% declines respectively against 2011), marke,ting director Marta Nappo, countered that in tractor units, the OEM is flying, with an uptick of 47% compared to the previous year – albeit from a low base... The tractors statistic puts Iveco in the number seven slot, behind Mercedes, DAF, Scania, Volvo, MAN and Renault Trucks. Scania was the only other OEM to see growth, while Volvo, MAN and, to a lesser extent, Renault, witnessed declines. And with 2013 seeing a ramp-up in production of the award-winning Stralis Hi-Way – first at Euro 5 and, in May this year, Euro 6 for 6x2 tractors – Iveco it's anticipating further growth for Iveco in the all-important tractors market...
* Germany - Truck maker MAN cuts shifts

Munich,BA,Germany -BBC World Service, by Andrew Walker -14 Jan,2013: -- MAN, a truck and bus maker with headquarters in southern Germany's largest city, Munich, provides clear evidence that the eurozone financial crisis is hitting the common currency's most powerful economy... The firm's workers coming back from the Christmas and New Year break face shorter hours and lower pay... This is a company that is thinking for the long term... Their futuristic looking concept truck is something you won't see on the roads just yet. The chief executive, Anders Nielsen, says its aerodynamic shape could produce fuel savings of 25%... He says selling trucks is a volatile and cyclical business, with investment decisions - such as buying a truck - affected by the uncertainity that has hit the eurozone... So MAN needs to adjust its production to match demand, Mr Nielsen says... There are no job losses in the pipeline, but workers will be doing shorter hours... More than 5,000 people are affected. In the first instance the company expects the reduced shift pattern to continue for six months and then there will be a review...

* Sweden - Truck maker Volvo to take 600 mln SEK Q4 restructure charge
Gothenburg,Sweden -Reuters - Jan 15, 2013: -- Volvo AB to record costs of approximately 600 million crowns in the fourth quarter of 2012 related to a previously announced reorganisation of the European sales organisation for trucks... Total cost for the restructure was estimated previously at 900 million crowns... Says remaining costs are expected to be incurred in the first half of 2013...
