Detroit,MICH,USA -The Detroit News, by Paul A. Eisenstein -January 11, 2013: -- After some very tough years, automakers and industry experts believe a revival for full-size pickups is just around the corner... The North American International Auto Show has never been known as a "trucky" show, a distinction that usually goes to the Chicago Auto Show. But this year, full-size pickups will be in the spotlight at the Detroit event... The 2013 Ram 1500, already in dealer showrooms, will be on the floor... And there's been widespread speculation among automakers, industry analysts and journalists that Ford Motor Co. will try to steal some of GM's thunder with a sneak peak of the next-generation Ford F-150 — the best-selling vehicle, car or truck, in the U.S. for 31 years. The Jeep investigation looked at possible fire risks when power steering hoses became detached. The Ford investigation involved complaints about tire-changing jacks. In July, NHTSA opened an investigation into 107,000 Chrysler SUVs for power steering hose blow-offs that could result in fires...  Separately, NHTSA said it was closing an investigation into 205,000 2004-05 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans over complaints about faulty scissors jacks. The complaints said the scissors jacks appeared to fail at the slotted hinge joints where the jack screw is located, by bending at midpoints... NHTSA has received six consumer complaints involving three injuries and one fatality. Ford reported 26 complaints and an additional four injuries...
