* Michigan - U.S. Treasury to sell all remaining GM stock; automaker buying back 200 million shares

Detroit,MICH,USA -The Detroit Free Press, by Nathan Bomey -December 19, 2012: -- The U.S. government plans to sell 40% of its General Motors stock by the end of the year and sell the rest of its shares within 12-15 months, officials announced this morning... The government’s exit from GM stock will mark the end of its direct involvement in the iconic American company that nearly collapsed in 2009 before receiving a $49.5-billion bailout and returning to job growth and profitability... GM said today that it would buy back 200 million shares from the U.S. Department of Treasury by the end of 2012 in a $5.5-billion deal. That would reduce the government stake from 26% to 19%... The U.S. plans to exit its equity stake in GM over the next 12-15 months by selling its remaining 300 million shares in the market...
* California - Honda adds a 94 gram CO2 choice to C-segment

Honda is introducing a first engine as part of its 'Earth Dreams Technology', and it is making its debut in the non-conformist styled Civic... The 1.6i-DTEC is a lively block, producing 120 bhp, 300 Nm of torque and with extremely brisk acceleration, but it is the fuel and CO2 figures which really impress and which are set to help the Japanese brand make more of a breakthrough into fleets. With consumption of 3.6 litres of diesel per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 94 grams per km, the Civic can now compete with all of its rivals...

* DC - GM recalls 2010-2012 Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon for missing hood latches

Washington,DC,USA -The Car Connection, by Suzanne Kane - 20 Dec 2012: -- General Motors is recalling certain 2010 through 2012 model year Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups that may lack a secondary hood latch to prevent unexpected hood opening during operation... A notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website puts the number of vehicles potentially involved in the United States at 118,800. That the recall also involves 15,264 vehicles in Canada, 7,492 in Mexico, and 4,069 around the world... The NHTSA bulletin said that affected vehicles were built from November 9, 2009 through August 28, 2012...
* DC - Hyundai recalls 2012 Veloster for sunroof, parking-brake flaws

Washington,DC,USA -The Car Connection, by Suzanne Kane -Dec 20, 2012: -- The 2012 Hyundai Veloster is the subject of two separate voluntary safety recalls announced today: one for sunroofs that could shatter and cause injury, and the other for a parking brake flaw that may allow vehicles to roll away... The sunroof recall follows a preliminary evaluation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in October 2012 after the agency received consumer complaints of panoramic sunroofs on 2012 Hyundai Veloster compact sporty cars suddenly shattering without warning... In the official sunroof recall notice posted today on the NHTSA website, the number of vehicles potentially affected is estimated to be 13,500...
