European car sales may be worse this year than last year 
Detroit,MICH,USA -The Detroit News, by Daniel Howes -January 15, 2013 -- From Volkswagen AG and Ford Motor Co. to General Motors Co. and the Chrysler-Fiat alliance, weakening demand and a coming recession in the bellwether German market are fueling predictions that this year will be even worse than last for sales and losses across the Continent... The deep gloom that four years ago hung over the Detroit auto show has officially made its way across the Atlantic, particularly for volume automakers who sell to the masses. Sovereign debt fears, austere national budgets and rising unemployment are combining to choke consumer demand, complicating efforts to repair broken businesses with too many people and too much plant capacity...
