* N.C. / USA - Mack Trucks adding more alternative-fuel rigs - Truckmaker has several models that run on alternative energies

Greensboro, N.C.,USA -Petrol Plaza -17 June 2012: -- Two new truck models will roll off Mack Trucks' Lower Macungie production line next year, expanding the truck-makers alternative fuel lineup. Mack is adding natural gas-powered versions to its Granite construction rig and Pinnacle truck, which is used to pull trailers . Mack already produces natural-gas powered rigs such as its TerraPro refuse truck... Mack, a division of Sweden's Volvo AB, is headquartered in Greensboro, N.C., and produces all rigs at its Lower Macungie Township plant, which employs roughly 1,700 workers... Natural gas-powered trucks cost more upfront than traditional rigs, but are less costly in the long run because of lower fuel costs. The technology is very popular with trash companies...


* Germany - VW plans to further hike MAN stake in next 12 months 

Munich,Germany -Reuters, by Andrea Cremer -Jun 18, 2012: -- Volkswagen plans to further increase its holding in truck maker MAN within the next 12 months, MAN said on Monday, as Europe's largest car maker is forging a trucks alliance with Swedish manufacturer Scania... VW raised its stake in Munich-based MAN beyond 75 percent from a previous 73.76 percent on June 5, opening the door to a possible domination agreement that would earn Wolfsburg, Germany-based VW full strategic and financial control over MAN. VW also owns a majority holding in Scania...


* Sweden - Volvo Group Opens New Facilities in Lima, Peru 

Götenborg,Sweden -Business Wire-June 18, 2012: -- On June 12, the Volvo Group opened its new base of operations in Peru. With a total area of 56,500 square meters, the facilities will serve as a hub for commercial and after-market activities supporting Volvo, Mack and UD vehicles, Volvo Buses, and Volvo Penta marine and industrial engines. US$ 17 million is being invested in the new facilities... The Peruvian facility is the first multi-brand operation of the Volvo Group in South America, given that it will support Volvo, Mack and UD vehicles. In terms of the Volvo truck brand, Peru is the second largest market in the continent... Last year alone, 2,040 Volvo branded trucks were sold in Peru, a historical record since Volvo entered the market 50 years ago... The Volvo truck fleet in Peru is around 17,500 trucks...


* India - Top truck makers cutting production on low demand

Mumbai,India -Bloomberg UTV/India Business, by Swati Khandelwal -Jun 20, 2012: -- Another indicator that the economic slowdown is getting deeper: India's top truck makers are scaling back production to meet lower demand...  Tata Motors has cut production of commercial vehicles up to 30%. At 407, 709 production, there has been a temporary halt. The company’s CV production in May was down 15%. Similarly, in case of Ashok Leyland, sources have said production cut by 20% is likely. Inventory levels are at 10,000. It has inventory average of 7,500-8,000...
