* Sweden - Volvo open new fuelling station

Stockholm,Sweden -Irish Trucker News (Ireland) -1 December 2011: -- Wednesday saw the opening of the Greater Stockholm region’s first refuelling station for liquefied methane gas, LNG/LBG... The filling station, Statoil Järna, is part of the BiMe Trucks project in which Volvo Trucks is one of the participating companies along with AGA, which supplies the liquefied gas. One of the project’s focus areas is to build the necessary infrastructure for liquefied methane gas in Sweden... At the opening ceremony in Stockholm, Volvo Trucks displayed a number of FM MethaneDiesel trucks powered by the 13-litre engine designed for gas which runs on a combination of biogas and diesel...


* Italy - Iveco Stralis leaves UK shores for driver training role in Tanzania

Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania -MHW Magazine -1 December 2011: -- An approved used Iveco Stralis Active Space heavy truck has set sail from the UK today, bound for the Tanzanian capital of Dar Es Salaam, where it will take on a vital professional driver training role commencing in January 2012... The 6x2 480 hp tractor unit has been donated by Iveco to industry development charity Transaid, which is working in partnership with the National Institute of Transport (NIT) to address the shortage of skilled commercial vehicle drivers...


* Brazil - Chinese company to set up truck distribution centre at port of Recife

Recife,Brazil -Macauhub (China) -December 5, 2011:  -- Truck seller Caminhões Metro Shacman of Brazil has signed an agreement with the Port of Recife and the Economic Development agency (AD Diper) to set up a Chinese vehicle distribution centre at the sea terminal, the Brazilian press reported...  The first vehicles will arrive at the port of Recife in January, and the company aims to import 1,500 vehicles in the first year, with turnover of over US$500 million...  The heavy goods trucks will be stored in a customs area covering 1.5 hectares set aside by the port, which has capacity to store up to 250 vehicles at a time...
