* PeopleNet’s PerformX now monitors Hino engines

Las Vegas,NV,USA -Fleet Owner -Oct 6, 2009: -- Owners of Hino Class 4 through 7 medium-duty trucks can now connect their engine diagnostics to their onboard computer through PeopleNet’s PerformX engine monitoring system, PeopleNet announced here at the annual conference of the American Trucking Assns... PeopleNet said the system is compatible with model year 2008-2010 Hino trucks and allows the onboard computer to collect engine data, creating various reports that include speed, shifting, idle management and more... * Qualcomm’s next-gen OBC launched commercially

Las Vegas,NV,USA -Fleet Owner -Oct 6, 2009:
-- In-cab video training and WiFi internet access are two of the most important features of Qualcomm Inc.’s next generation on-board computer, according to John Pope, chairman of Cargo Transporters, speaking at a press briefing during the American Trucking Assns.’ annual conference here. His fleet was one of four beta testers for the new MCP200. He said Cargo Transporters is currently using the earlier-generation MCP100 and will move all of its trucks to the new OBC... For Schneider National, which has recently announced that it will install the MCP200 in its entire fleet, its advanced automated drivers’ log function are the most important feature, according to Don Osterberg, vp of safety & driver training. During its beta testing, the fleet also saw “a positive impact on driver productivity and more intelligent dispatching...


* Xata shows new for-hire apps and OBC

Las Vegas,NV,USA -Fleet Owner -Oct 6, 2009: -- Xata Corp. announced during the American Trucking Assocns. Annual conference here that it will launch next-generation Fleet Performance Management (FPM) applications as well as a new onboard computer (OBC) to enable XATA’s fleet optimization solutions for the for-hire trucking market... Xata said the for-hire application enhancements will be rolled out over the next year. A trailer-tracking-and-reporting tool is scheduled for release in late 2009, followed by electronic, graphical driver logs for the for-hire market in early 2010. Xata said that later in 2010 it plans to deliver a complete reporting and analytics package as part of its FPM for-hire solution...
