* Czech Republic - Truckmaker Tatra cutting 530 jobs
Prague,Czech -Thomson Reuters/Forbes (USA) -Oct 6, 2009: -- Czech truckmaker Tatra will let go of 530 staff this month and shorten its working week from November due to falling orders, a spokesman said on Tuesday... The company had let go of 1,000 employees up to June because of the economic crisis and posted a loss-making 2008. It said it expects its employee count to be around 2,200 after this latest round of job losses... Unemployment in the Czech Republic has jumped to a more than three-year high of 8.5 percent, and many analysts see it growing to near 10 percent next year as manufacturers shed jobs...
* USA - Remy presents new motors for hybrids
Pendleton,IND,USA -IndyStar, by Ted Evanoff -October 6, 2009: -- Remy International is unveiling a new line of electric motors for hybrid cars and trucks today that could set off an expansion in Anderson and eventually account for a third of the company's sales... The light duty motor, it's called the HVH250... Landing a major order for the motor could lead the company to put in a new production line at a site in the Anderson area using the federal grant money. The site has not been identified... Remy received a $60.2 million in federal green-car grants this summer to help pay for tooling up production of the new motor...
