REGULATIONS * USA - Trucking Industry Exempt from EPA Greenhouse Gas Reporting Rule

Oklahoma,OK,USA -OTA blog -October 05 2009: -- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued first-time rules on Sept. 22 for a national greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting registry. The program, which begins Jan. 1, 2010, establishes monitoring, reporting and record keeping requirements for fossil fuel and industrial GHG suppliers, motor vehicle and engine manufacturers, and facilities that emit 25,000 metric tons or more of carbon dioxide equivalents per year... As a result of ATA’s comments filed on the proposed rule and several meetings between ATA and the agency, trucking companies will not be required to report their GHG emissions under the final rule. Covered entities will be required to report GHG emissions data to EPA annually. The GHG reporting program will cover 85 percent of the country’s emission sources and will affect some 10,000 facilities. The first annual reports must be submitted to EPA by 2011...
