RECALLS * Canada - Ford Recalls Over 500,000 Vehicles
To Fix Cruise Control Deactivation Switches
Toronto,ONT,CAN -AHN -October 15, 2009: -- Ford Canada will soon send notices to owners of more than half a million pickup trucks, minivans and commercial vehicles to fix the control deactivation switches. Unless the defective switches are repaired, the vehicle may burn... With the large number of vehicles involved, it would be the largest recall in Ford Canada's history, the automaker said. The recall involves vehicles made from 1992 to 2003, particularly the F-Series SuperDuty diesel trucks, Ranger trucks, Excursion diesel sport utility vehicles, Econoline commercial vans, Explorer sports utilities and Windstar minivans... Outside Canada, parent firm Ford Motor in Detroit said it would recall 4.5 million more vehicles in the U.S. for the same defective part. It would bring the total number of affected vehicles in its U.S. market to a record 14.3 million...
