RECORDS * Australia - The World's Longest Truck Convoy?
17 Aussie Roadtrains in a circle
Clifton,Australia -Biglorryblog (UK) -March 19, 2009: -- Thanks Gary Richards, Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks' Australian national manager product management and promotion for sending some pictures... Gary says: "Hi ... this is the most impressive pic. I have - don't know too much about it except there are 17 roadtrains - so roughly 2500 tonnes of truck and beef when loaded! Enjoy"...
* The World's Longest Roadtrain--and naturally it's being pulled by a Bulldog...!
(Picture: TitanTrain.jpg) ... A Mack Titan, the 620hp tri-drive Titan is just about to pull 113 of them (all loaded) to become the world's longest roadtrain. In fact, the above record-breaking run to place down-under way back in March 2006 when 70-year old truck driver John Atkinson took his Mack Titan model into the Guinness Book of Records in front of a crowd of 8,000 people... Using a mile long stretch of the main road of Clifton, a tiny town on the Darling Downs nestled near Toowoomba, John moved the massive roadtrain which I'm told weighed 2,865,980-pounds ---that's 1,300,metric tonnes by my caculator--- the required 100m for it to qualify as a record... ATitan, says BLB, which typically handles up to 200 tonne GCM and comes with a choice of Cummins Signature up to 620hp or Cat C-15 or C16 up to 600hp...
