TRANSPORT STATISTICS * North America - 2008 Surface trade with Mexico and Canada
Up 4.1 percent year-over-year
Washington,DC,USA -Logistic Management -18 March 2009: -- Trade using surface transportation between the United States and its North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners Canada and Mexico was up 4.1 percent in 2008 compared to 2007, hitting $380 billion, according to data released by the United States Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS)... The BTS said the value of U.S. surface transportation trade with Mexico rose 2.3 percent year over year in 2008 at $293 billion. Imports carried by truck were valued at 2.1 percent lower in 2008 than in 2007, said the BTS, and the value of exports carried by truck was up 7.8 percent.
