MARKETS * Australia - Truck sales stay down as vehicle sales soar
Australia -Australasian Transport News (subscription) -4 April 2007: -- Isuzu have maintained a marginal lead in the truck market, retaining their lead over Japanese rivals Hino and Mitsubishi Fuso in a mixed round of vehicle sales... Figures compiled by auto industry statistician VFACTS show that 255,068 vehicles were sold in the first three months of the year –— up 20,463 or 8.7 percent on the same period of 2006 and surpassing the previous record for the quarter, set two years ago, of 237,000. The truck market however, dropped from last year’s figures by 1.06 percent across the board from 7821 vehicles to 7351 this year registered as sold... Isuzu bounced back gaining 22.5 percent of the market share in March... Hino are the medium duty market leaders at the moment... In the heavy duty sector Kenworth are the dominant market leaders with 16.5 percent of the market share. The Mack/Volvo combination are 11.4 and 10.9 percent respectively taking their total to 22.3 percent of the market share, competing with PACCAR’s Kenworth/DAF combined total of 19.6 percent...
