AWARD * Australian trucking has a new young ambassador
Australia -Australasian Transport News (subscription) -2 April 2007: -- Young Victorian driver David Whyte, aged 27, became Australia’s top truck driver on the weekend, capturing the inaugural national title in a global campaign to promote the industry and safe driving.. Whyte won the crown of Young Australian Truck Driver from 16 other State and Territory finalists and ‘drives’ away with a $220,000 Scania truck and 1000 litres of Shell diesel fuel... More than 1500 truckies had entered the nationwide competition and campaign, which seeks to not only enhance the image of truck driving, but also to encourage younger people to enter the profession...
