Log truckers * USA - It's cheaper not to work
Seattle,WA,USA -KOMO, by Bryan Johnson -Apr 4, 2007: -- Independent log truck drivers in Grays Harbor County are still parking their rigs. It's one week and counting... 140 of the 200 trucks in the logging area are idle because the truck operators say they are being paid less than trucks operating on the Olympic Peninsula. They say the contract fee of $52 an hour doesn't cover the cost of drivers, diesel, maintenance and insurance... Their hope is that the park-in will convince contract loggers to negotiate higher contracts with the timber companies and have the money to increase the reimbursement for the truck drivers...
