REFORM OF THE LABOR CODE * France: A day of mobilization calling for more

* Paris-- The CGT and FO unions mobilization, on 12 September, on the reform of the labor code

--- FO Transports had announced last week that if it succeeded in finding a basis for common demands with CGT Transports, the two trade unions would come together against the reform of the labor code by ordinance. The case is now concluded. "Against the aggression against the rights of employees, amplifying the social declines of the El Khomri law, the two federations call transport workers to a massive response, " the two unions said in a joint statement... The CGT Transports and FO-UNCP make of September 12 "a first day of mobilization", which therefore calls for others. They demanded "the repeal of the El Khomri law ", which they had strongly contested at the time, and "the withdrawal of the Macron Ordinances." At the end of this day, we call on employees to multiply general assemblies in companies to define the modalities of action for the continuation of the social movement, "the statement said... The reform of the labor code, presented on August 31, is called a "totally ideological project"...

TRUCKERS' PROTESTS * Russia: Against Road Tax

* Russian trucking industry feeling the bite of controversial Road Tax

--- A road tax introduced by Russia early in 2017 that targets heavy and long-haul trucks continued to rumble on Friday, causing discontent among those in the trade, a freight company spokeswoman said... Russia’s contentious Platon road tax imposed on heavy, long-haul trucks that sparked protests by truckers across the country, has begun to squeeze out smaller operators from the market, according to the Lithuanian-based freight forwarding company ABIPA... The implementation of Platon has led to allegations of corruption by the opposition, since the management of the system, including the collection of payments, is carried out by a company controlled by Igor Rottenberg, son of billionaire Arkady Rottenberg, a member of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s inner circle... ABIPA says the toll charges are not great in comparison to other costs, but the additional fees are “painful” considering that “85 percent of Russia’s transport is acquired by means of leasing. Small businesses suffer the most"...

* Mato Grosso - Truckers protest continues in Brazil's top grain state

--- A Brazilian truckers' protest entered its fourth day on Monday, preventing grain-carrying vehicles from taking a key road for soy and corn shipments in the state of Mato Grosso... The demonstration started on Friday as truck owners demanded greater compensation from commodities traders and transportation companies to transport soy and corn from the state to exporting ports in southern Brazil... The main harvest has just started in Mato Grosso, Brazil's No. 1 soy and corn producing state, where farmers are expected to collect 30 million tonnes of soybeans... Police said protesting truck drivers were stopping all trucks carrying grains at two points in the BR-364 road and asking them to park. The protest is not aimed at stopping flow of other vehicles... Road operator Rota do Oeste, controlled by Brazilian conglomerate Odebrecht, confirmed that grain-carrying trucks are being parked on the side of the road, reducing the room for normal traffic... Abiove, the Brazilian association representing commodities traders and processors, and Aprosoja, a Mato Grosso farmers association, declined to comment...

Thousands of outbound motorists were caught up in a peak-hour protest in which about 20 tip-trucks drove side by side at 20 in an 80km/h zone near Moreland Rd... At one stage the trucks took up all four lanes, blocking traffic from overtaking... Police were called to monitor the protesting drivers, but no fines were issued: it is not an offence to drive under the limit unless you obstruct a road... A Victorian truck owner-driver, who asked that his name not to be used, said that after two years of talks over poor pay and conditions, action finally had to be taken... “All we’re trying to do is get a viable wage for us to make a living and for us to maintain our trucks,” he said...

Ask Congress & Pres. Bush to address gas prices caused by record-high gas prices and curb rampant oil speculation

Washington,DC,USA -Market Watch -Sept 22, 2008: -- Truckers and Citizens United (TACU), a nationwide organization that represents the interests of thousands of professional drivers and trucking employees, is gearing up for a massive convoy around Capitol Hill on Tuesday, September 23rd, to ask Congress and President George W. Bush to back energy legislation that would make gas prices more affordable. The convoy, which could slow traffic in the nation's capital for hours, will start at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, and travel to downtown Washington, DC, where it will parade around the U.S. Capitol by mid-morning. TRUCKERS' PROTEST * New Zealand - Gridlock feared ahead of protest

Leave for work early or take the day off is the advice for commuters on Friday

Auckland,New Zealand -TVNZ -Jul 3, 2008: -- Truck drivers plan to invade central city roads from 7am claiming they will struggle to pay increased road user charges... The protest by the truck drivers is expected to bring traffic in many parts of the country to a standstill, with police warning motorists to either get to work before 7.30am or take the day off... Truckies say a surprise hike in road user charges two days ago was the last straw. The increase of between 7% and 10% has been imposed to help with the damage large trucks do to the country's roads... And transport operators say the increase in cost may be passed on to consumers with the freight business getting more and more expensive and the government's increases on Road User Charges doing nothing to ease the pressure... Auckland will be the worst affected of all the cities where the protests are planned as at least 2000 truckies hit the motorway and head toward the town hall... Organisers say drivers will try to stick to the left lane only during the protests... They will lose a day's profit but trucking companies say public support for drivers has been phenomenal... Friday's protest will be the first time trucking companies have taken national action... The protest is expected to end around 9:00am but the backlog caused may take some time to clear...

Tel Aviv,Israel -Haaretz, by Avi Bar-Eli -19 June 2008: -- The protest against the climbing fuel prices came to a head Thursday as hundreds of truck drivers, taxi drivers and bus drivers came together to demonstrate their criticism of the state's apparent indifference to the pressing problem... At 2 P.M. convoys of vehicles left from Ashdod, Jerusalem and Haifa, making their way toward Tel Aviv in efforts to converge in Tel Aviv and clog the city's main artery, Ayalon highway, between 3:30 and 5:00 P.M...
