Speed limiting has proved successful in Australia. It has been mandatory for well over a decade here. The limit is 100km/h, lower for some multi trailer combinations.

Some reasons for it acceptance and success here is that it is a National requirement and not one mandated by individual jurisdictions. It is set at the "open road" limit of 100km/h although we do have 110km/h posted on some roads. These are generally National highways or roads of similar best standards.

I do believe Canada needs to consider making it a National standard if they have not done so, and the speed limit does need to avoid speed differentials wherever possible because they can reduce road safety; the very thing the rule is aimed at improving.
