* Michigan - September 2014 was record month for new-generation Chevrolet Silverado, up 54 percent


Detroit,MICH,USA -GM Authority, by TIM ESTERDAHL -OCT 5, 2014: -- GM’s September truck-month promotion – which applied to both the 2014 Silverado and 2015 Silverado – appears to have been a home run, as sales of the Chevrolet Silverado soared 54 percent in September 2014, marking the best month ever for the new truck... Overall, Chevrolet sold 50,176 trucks and gained 6.9 percent market share. Its success helped grow GM’s large pickup market share to 39 percent, an increase of 5 percent over last year... 


* California - Navistar touts 'most fuel efficient' Class 8 tractor

San Diego,CAL,USA -The Trucker, by by CLIFF ABBOTT -5 Oct 2014: -- Navistar touted what it called its most fuel efficient Class 8 truck specification at the American Trucking Associations Management Conference and Exhibition here Sunday... The company’s ProStar model, equipped with an Eaton-Cummins “SmartAdvantage” powertrain is the most fuel efficient Class 8 spec, according to Vice President and General Manager, Heavy-duty Truck Product Line, Jodi Presswood. “Every percent of fuel economy improvement helps our customers and spec’ing a vehicle properly can make all the difference,” he said... The SmartAdvantage package is a 10-speed Eaton Fuller Advantage automated manual transmission paired with the Cummins ISX15 engine. The package is combined with the lowest axle ratios available in the industry, according to Presswood, allowing maximum power transfer with minimal fuel consumption...


* California - Medium-Duty engines coming from Detroit

San Diego,CAL,USA -TruckingInfo -October 6, 2014: -- Daimler Trucks North America announced that it will offer Detroit medium-duty engines beginning in 2016... Detroit’s new DD5 and DD8 engines are a part of Daimler Trucks’ Global Excellence Strategy to have uniform production standards and processes worldwide... Versions of the engine series have been produced in Europe since 2012, but the line will be customized for the North American market, much as the Detroit DT12 automated transmission was developed... DTNA’s entire product line-up, including vehicles equipped with the DD5 and DD8, will meet GHG17 standards early. The engines will be initially built and shipped from Daimler’s powertrain facility in Mannheim, Germany, with further plans to industrialize the engines in North America in 2018... The new DD5 and DD8 engines, will be offered throughout Daimler Trucks North America’s product portfolio, which includes Freightliner, Western Star, Thomas Built Buses, and Freightliner Custom Chassis vehicles...
