* Wiscosin - Oshkosh plans response to Icahn tender offer 

Oshkosh,WIS,USA -AP/Bloomberg -October 22, 2012: -- Truck maker Oshkosh Corp. said Monday that it will respond to billionaire investor Carl Icahn's tender offer for its shares, before the end of October... The company advised shareholders to take no action on Icahn's offer to buy their stock for $32.50 per share. Icahn launched his offer on Oct. 17, and Oshkosh said it will respond within 10 business days from that date... In a letter to shareholders that was filed on Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Icahn said Oshkosh needs new management and a new strategy. He said shares of Oshkosh have lost about two-thirds of their value since Charles Szews became president and chief operating officer in October 2007. Szews has been the company's president and CEO since January 2011... 


* Illinois / USA - Caterpillar Posts $1.7 Billion Profit, Lowers Outlook 

Peoria,ILL,USA -Transport Topics -22 Oct 2012: -- Heavy equipment maker Caterpillar Inc. reported a $1.7 billion third-quarter profit, up 49% from the same quarter last year, and lowered its full-year earnings outlook... Net income rose to $1.7 billion, or $2.54 a share, from $1.14 billion, or $1.71, a year ago. Sales increased 5% to $16.4 billion...  Caterpillar, which formerly made diesel truck engines, said in 2008 it was pulling out of the North American Class 8 truck engine market except for a truck and engine in partnership with Navistar International Corp....
