* France - Start of French breathalyser fines put back until 2013
Paris,France -Commercial Motor, by Chris Druce -18 October 2012: -- The French government has postponed the levying of fines for any LGV drivers found not to have a breathalyser kit in their cab when travelling through the country... The €11 (£8.70) fines were due to be enforced for all drivers in France from 1 November... However, due to a lack of awareness about the July law change the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) reports this has now been pushed back until March 2013... Breathalysers are available to buy at ferry and tunnel terminals for a nominal fee... Neil Greig, IAM director of policy and research, said: “The new French rule is a genuine attempt to reduce the number of alcohol-related accidents. France’s lower limit means it’s very easy to be over the limit the morning after as well” ...
* UK - Andrews Haulage to close, putting 30 vehicles up for sale
Derbyshire,UK -Commercial Motor, by Ashleigh Wight -17 October 2012: -- Andrews Haulage is to close its haulage operation and is looking to sell all of its 30 vehicles... The Derbyshire-based firm, which specialised in events transport, moving building materials and bulk transportation of grain and animal feed, has blamed the price of fuel and the banks unwillingness to lend for the closure of the business... Over the last 20 years the firm moved cabins and containers for many prestigious events...
