In a bid to deal more effectively with competition, India's third-largest commercial vehicle player VE Commercial Vehicles, an equal joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, has restructured the organisation by merging three different profit centres - Eicher Trucks and Buses, Volvo Trucks and the Powertrain unit...
* China - Heavy-duty truck makers to benefit from drop and pull transport subsidy
Beijing,China -China Automotive Review, by Jennifer Chen -6 June 2012: -- The Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Transport released the Road Drop and Pull Transport Trial Funds Management Measures recently to subsidize road drop and pull transport trial projects with a maximum ¥10 million ($1.59 million) subsidy, reported Shanghai Securities News... Projects with investments of or above ¥100 million will receive a maximum of ¥10 million fixed subsidy per project... The Ministry of Transport released the first batch of recommended road drop and pull models at the beginning of this year. Sixteen models from 11 domestic enterprises, such as Dongfeng, CNHTC and SAIC, are among the subsidy list...
* India - Chinese truck manufacturer sticks to Maharashtra as others flee
Mumbai,India -The Business Standard, by Swaraj Baggonkar -Jun 07, 2012: -- Chinese commercial vehicle maker Beiqi Foton will stand out from the crowd later in the year, when it goes ahead with its planned Rs 1,700-crore investment in Maharashtra, while other manufacturers are scouting opportunities elsewhere over the value-added tax issue... Beiqi Foton, one of the largest truck and bus makers in China, has planned a mega facility for commercial vehicles in the Chakan auto hub... Though the facility is running substantially behind schedule, Beiqi Foton remains the single largest investing firm in Maharashtra in recent times in the automotive sector...
