* Fleet managers risk prosecution for fatal accidents 


London,EN,UK -Truck and Business, by Tim Harrup -29 May 2012: -- The notion of Corporate Social Responsibility which first emerged in the UK and which is now an integral part of most fleet policies, has taken a new and more serious turn. Speaking at the recent ACFO conference, Sergeant Gareth Morgan, supervisor of South Wales Police Driver Training, said that police forces across the UK are waiting to convict fleet operators under corporate manslaughter and corporate homicide legislation. He went on to say that “90% of accidents are as a result of human behaviour” ...  Staying with this theme, Sergeant Morgan said that in light of this, “fleet managers must ask if the at-work driving risk management processes they have in place will withstand scrutiny from the police service” ... He said that the police would be looking at the role played by fleet decision-makers in cases of death on the roads involving fleet drivers at work, and he recommends businesses to use psychometric profiling as a successful method to enable drivers to self-evaluate their behaviour on the road...
