* Oregon - Freightliner Recalls 1,248 M2 Trucks

Portland,ORE,USA -Transport Topics -22 May 2012: -- Freightliner Trucks has issued a recall for 1,248 of its M2 models built in February and March because of faulty software related to the operation of headlights.The report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration by Daimler Trucks North America, Freightliner’s parent, said the M2 software has been turning off the low-beam light when the high beam is on... When working properly, both lamps should burn during high-beam operation...
* North Caroline - Waste Industries adds CNG power to truck fleet
Durham,NC,USA -Fleet Owner -May 23, 2012: -- Waste Industries has announced it is updating its fleet by adding 19 refuse trucks and one service truck that run on compressed natural gas (CNG). The $8-million project also includes the construction of a private CNG fueling station for the new and an upgrade to the fleet’s maintenance shop... Although CNG trucks cost $35,000 to $40,000 more, according to Waste Industries, the benefits associated with them outweigh that cost...
