* India - Truck lane seen slow for some time to come 

Mumbai,India -DNA, by Yuga Chaudhari and Amritha Pillay -May 23, 2012: -- The slowdown in the heavy-duty commercial vehicle (CV) segment is expected to continue for up to six months... Experts said that sales had peaked in early March when some prospective buyers, encouraged by higher discounts but fearful of Budget-related price hikes, went ahead with their purchases... As vehicle prices rose post-Budget due to excise hike, other large fleet operators and individual buyers have been delaying their purchases, said analysts and transporters... The drop in freight rates led to a further drop in heavy truck sales in April. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the CV segment grew 4.37% on year in April. In contrast, medium and heavy commercial vehicles (M and HCVs) de-grew 11.60%...

* Illinois / USA - CC Industries teams with Baird in China trucking venture 

Chicago,ILL,USA -Crain's, by Lynne Marek -May 21, 2012: -- Chicago's Crown family is teaming up with Robert W. Baird and Co.'s private equity unit to invest in a Chinese truck manufacturer that will use the money to expand production and sales in China... They declined to say how much money they're investing, but disclosed that they will jointly hold a minority stake... The investment is in Ice Bear, a Shangqiu-based company in Henan province that makes insulated and refrigerated trucks to carry perishables. The company, which was formed in 1993, has manufacturing facilities in Shanghai and Henan...


* Florida / USA - Volvo Trucks unveils Remote Diagnostics to keep trucks connected and out of the shop 

Miami,FL,USA -Truck News (CAN), by Lou Smyrlis -May 20, 2012: -- Volvo Trucks, during a special media conference held in Miami in conjunction with the Volvo Ocean Race Friday, announced the launch of its Remote Diagnostics aftermarket service for North America. The service is designed to provide “a seamless, dynamically connected system of vehicle management tools to help maximize vehicle uptime.” Remote Diagnostics will be standard on all Volvo-powered VN model highway trucks as of Monday... Huibers said Volvo was the first North American truck manufacturer to deliver a telematics solution, offering fleet management tools in 2002...
