IPIC suggests EUR126 million joint guarantee for Ferrostaal. MAN says it just received IPIC's proposal and remains open for talks

Franfurt,Germany -Dow Jones Newswire/The WSJ, by Christoph Rauwald -October 17, 2011: -- Abu Dhabi's International Petroleum Investment Co. said Tuesday it suggested providing a joint guarantee worth around EUR126 million to support troubled German industrial services firm Ferrostaal AG, but co-shareholder and former owner MAN SE didn't respond yet to the request sent on Monday...  MAN and IPIC are stuck in a legal dispute over a bribery scandal at Ferrostaal. IPIC bought a 70% stake in Ferrostaal in 2009. The continuing bribery investigation relates to the time Ferrostaal was still part of MAN...  A spokesman for MAN said the German truck maker and engineering firm has just received the proposal from IPIC...  IPIC said the suggested joint guarantee would be sufficient to safeguard 50% of Ferrostaal's bank guarantees for the next three months...

Leicestershire,UK -InAutoNews, by Cristian Gnaticov --October 14, 2011: -- The Volvo UK division has recently announced that the first FH16-750 truck was ordered in the country, being delivered to its customer, named A R Demolition, which will serve as a transport vehicle to their fleet of excavators, doing its best in putting all the 750 horsepower on the road... According to Volvo, the new FH16-750 truck is powered by a 16 liter inline six-cylinder engine, with four valves per cylinder, unit injectors and overhead camshaft, which is developing 750 horsepower. The unit is available in two versions, Euro 5 and EEV (Enhanced Environmentally friendly Vehicle)...


* Iraq - DAF keen to get foothold in Iraq with govt deal

Bagdag,Iraq -Construction Week on Line -Oct 17, 2011: -- Iraq’s Land Transportation Company is in discussions with Dutch manufacturers DAF over the replacement of vehicles in its current fleet... According to the LTC’s media department, General Manager Abbas Omran Musa met with a delegation from DAF to discuss the supply of DAF trucks to expand the State Company’s fleet and renew its vehicles. Details of the deal were not disclosed in the media statement... The LTC also asked that its technicians visit DAF’s factories to get acquainted with their work...


* China - Foton gears up for Indian market

Beijing,China -China Daily, by Han Tianyang -17 Oct 2011: -- China's leading truck maker Beiqi Foton Motor Co announced last week that it will invest 2.47 billion yuan in a plant in India to meet increasing demand in the world's fourth-biggest commercial vehicle market...  The company's board of directors has approved its plan to set up the Foton Motors Manufacturing India Plc in the state of Maharashtra with registered capital of about 626 million yuan, Foton said in the statement on its website...  The new plant, scheduled to begin operation in the middle of 2013, will have initial annual output of 96,000 vehicles that will later be increased to 120,000 units, Foton said in the statement...  As the Indian government imposes a 24 percent tariff on imported vehicles, local sourcing and manufacturing is a must for Foton to make a breakthrough in the market, the company said..


* Portugal - MFTBC Tramagal plant starts new Canter build

Tramagal,Portugal -Automotive World -October 17, 2011: -- Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) has launched production of the new Canter light-duty truck for the European market following a final quality inspection. The Portugal plant provides Canters for more than 30 countries. Tramagal began Canter production in 1980 and has since built 160,000 vehicles. The OEM plans to boost capacity at the facility and export to a growing number of markets outside of Europe... By value, around half of the new Canter’s components come from more than 90 European suppliers, including the engine, axle components, springs, brakes, tyres, headlamps and lights, seats and interior panelling...
