TRUCKMAKERS' NEWS * USA - Navistar says it has engines meeting 2010 emissions standard

Huntsville,AL,USA -Fleet Owner, by Brian Straight -November 04, 2010: -- When Navistar announced it was going to meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s 2010 emissions mandate with Advanced EGR technology, many said it couldn’t be done. When the other heavy-duty engine makers chose selective catalytic reduction (SCR) as the technology to meet the 0.2 nitrates of oxide (NOx) standard, many said Navistar would be at a distinct disadvantage. According to Dan Ustian, president & CEO, Navistar not only can meet the 0.2 NOx level, but customers are warming to its distinct engine solution...(Photo from fleetowner: A Navistar engine LG)

COMMENT on Linkedin: "World of Trucks" -6 Nov 2010: by Brian Askew "• They still don't meet the new standards without the credits from all of those pickup truck engines that were so bad Ford ended the marriage and designed their own PowerStroke. If the EPA tomorrow said NO more credits International would be out of business. They will use up their credits and then use SCR just like everyone else. They already do in Brazil. 55% plus exhaust gas recirculation? That much can only lead to poor fuel economy and increased engine wear to to much higher heat levels. Buy American? The Prostar is made in Mexico. Fact"
