Topeka,KN,USA -The Topeka Capital Journal, by Ann Marie Bush -May 21, 2010: -- Eskridge resident Don Logan, who has been driving semitrailers for more than 20 years, spent this week at the wheel of a semitrailer for the Trucks on Patrol for Safety program, which is conducted by the Kansas Highway Patrol. A trooper rides along in the passenger seat and looks for motorists committing moving violations. The trooper then radios other troopers... Don Logan has been driving semitrailers for more than 20 years and knows first-hand the dangers posed by motorists who aren't aware of the big rigs on the road... The Trucks on Patrol for Safety, or TOPS, is conducted by the patrol and supported by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration... Professional drivers who operate large trucks are teaming up with patrol troopers who use their front-seat view from the semitrailer to witness, document and report violations to other troopers in the area.
