Trucking Industry * Australia - Welcomes tax policy statement

The Australian Trucking Association has welcomed the government's tax policy statement - with some reservations

Canberra,Australia -Transport & Logistic News -5 May 2010: -- The government has announced it will:

* Reduce company taxes from 30 per cent to 29 per cent in 2013-14 and 28 per cent from 2014-15 on;
* Reduce the company tax rate for small businesses early, with the 28 per cent rate applying from 2012-13;
* Enable small businesses to write off assets worth up to $5,000 instantly;
* Simplify depreciation for other assets, which will reduce complexity and cut red tape; Establish a new infrastructure fund to help the states cope with the resources boom, with initial annual contributions starting at $700 million from 2012-13.
