* Australia - Navistar and Iveco end Australian marketing venture

Sydney,NSW,Australia -Fleet Owner, by Brian Straight -Mar 3, 2010: -- Navistar International Corp. and Iveco Trucks Australia Limited have reached agreement to end their joint marketing agreement, effective October 9, 2010... A separate agreement will allow Iveco to continue to supply parts, service and support for International-brand trucks for seven years. Iveco will also continue to sell its inventory of International trucks through approximately June 2011...


* Ireland - Big Irish order for Volvo

Birr,Co Offaly,Ireland -HGV UK -March 4, 2010: -- The largest new truck order ever placed by the Volvo dealer network in Ireland has been confirmed by Irish Commercials (Sales) Ltd... The order for 95 Volvo FE snowplough/spreader chassis, which is also believed to be the biggest-ever order received by Volvo for new FE trucks, means that a significant part of England’s motorway and trunk road network will be kept clear by Volvo vehicles next winter...


* Australia - Isuzu, 21 consecutive years of lidership

Melbourne,VIC,Australia -Isuzu(PR) -2 Mar 2010: ... Isuzu Trucks has extended its reign atop the Australian truck market to 21 consecutive years, following a strong 2009 performance in the midst of extremely demanding economic conditions... According to official ERG Truck Tracker Industry figures, Isuzu Trucks finished 2009 with a total of 7,480 units, eclipsing its nearest competitor by 3,221 units... Despite a 24.3 per cent decline in the total Australian truck market largely due to the effects of the Global Financial Crisis, Isuzu Trucks extended its hold on top spot, increasing its December Year to Date (YTD) market share from 28.7 to 30.8 per cent... Isuzu N Series models continued to dominate the light market with an impressive 40.7 per cent market share for a total of 3,544 units; this placed Isuzu 1,647 trucks ahead of its nearest competitor...


* India - Ashok Leyland to Invest 30 Billion Rupees in JVs

Pantnagar,India -The WSJ (USA), by NIKHIL GULATI -MARCH 4, 2010: -- Ashok Leyland Ltd. will invest 30 billion rupees ($656.4 million) over the next three years in its joint ventures with Japan's Nissan Motor Co. and U.S.-based John Deere Ltd. to expand its portfolio of commercial vehicles, its managing director said Thursday... India's second-largest truck and bus maker by sales is among several local and foreign auto makers looking to benefit from the federal government's push to develop infrastructure and build cross-country highways...


* India - Tata Surges on Highest Monthly Sales in Three Years


Mumbai,India -Bloomberg/Business Week, by Vipin V. Nair -March 2, 2010: -- Tata Motors Ltd., India’s biggest truckmaker, surged the most in more than nine months in Mumbai after reporting its highest monthly sales tally in three years... The automaker gained 12.2 percent, the biggest jump since May 20, to 798.05 rupees... Tata boosted sales 58 percent last month to 69,427 vehicles, as lower interest rates and government stimulus measures spurred demand...


* Germany - VW Plans Golf-Style Cooperation for Scania Unit, MAN

Wolfsburg,Germany -Bloomberg/Businessweek, by Chris Reiter & Andreas Cremer & Kenneth Wong -March 2, 2010: -- Volkswagen AG, Europe’s largest automaker, anticipates that the cooperation between its Scania AB unit and MAN SE will accelerate and lead to parts and technology sharing...
