Truck Crime * UK - DfT makes progress on

London,UK -Road Transport, by Steve Hobson -9 September 2009: -- The DfT is to issue an action plan on secure truck parking in late October or early November as part of a joint initiative with the Home Office to reduce truck theft... The latest DfT draft plan will cover key issues such as overcoming planning hurdles to the development of more secure sites, identifying where secure truck parks are required, improving signage and allowing trucks onto park and ride sites overnight... The DfT research will support the European Union LABEL initiative to establish a certification system for safe truck parking areas across Europe. This scheme could see the creation of a network of 75 certified secure sites across the EU, of which eight are expected to be in the UK... (Picture from s0.geograph.org.uk: Clacket Lane Services.
