INFRASTRUCTURES * USA - FHA OKs plan for segregated truck lanes between KC and St. Louis

Kansas,MO,USA -The Kansas City Star, by BRAD COOPER -8 Sept 2009: -- The federal government has approved Missouri’s plans to build segregated truck lanes between Kansas City and St. Louis ... The Federal Highway Administration’s approval of the $4 billion project essentially gives Missouri the necessary clearances to move ahead with the project should funding come available... The federal government’s decision culminates 10 years of work studying how the aging I-70 might be improved between Kansas City and St. Louis... The new I-70 design calls for trucks running in the two inside lanes in each direction, separated from the cars by a grass median. A concrete barrier would separate eastbound and westbound trucks... (Photo from kctribune, by Michael McClure: I-70, shown here looking East from Stadium Drive, would be widened with truck-only lanes in each direction)
