* Germany - Mercedes-Benz Professional Instructors Are Equipped to Provide Training in Accordance With the New Driver Qualification Law
Stuttgart/Worth,Germany–The Auto Channel (USA) -August 12, 2009: -- Rising diesel prices, an environmental tax, a truck toll, and intense competition are forcing shipping companies in Germany to do all they can to keep costs down in order to succeed on the market. This principle has been the primary focus of Mercedes-Benz’ driver training programs at the Wörth truck plant, which have been meeting customers’ needs for 40 years... The plant itself produces state-of-the-art trucks, while professional trainers ensure that these vehicles can be operated as economically as possible. This is important because those who drive economically can conserve fuel and reduce vehicle wear and tear... Drivers of Mercedes-Benz trucks get the technical knowledge they need to efficiently operate their new vehicle from the Driver Information Service, one of the three standard components in the service package offered by the Mercedes-Benz Professional Driver Training program. The majority of customers who pick up their truck directly from the factory also take advantage of the opportunity to take part in the program. Recently, the new PLUS driver training feature began offering them the possibility of combining the vehicle pick-up with a seven-hour instruction module based on the requirements of Germany’s new professional driver qualification law... * India - Asia Motor Works to roll out a 31-tonner truck from its Gujarat facility
Bhuj,Gujarat,India -Wheels Unplugged -11 Aug 2009: -- Asia Motor Works Limited (AMW), homegrown manufacturer of wheel rims for cars, tractors and trucks is all set to roll out a 31-tonner truck from its Bhuj facility in Gujarat. After rolling out trucks in the 25-tonne and 49-tonne categories, the company is keen to foray into segments where it doesn’t have any products... It may be recalled that during the later part of 2008, AMW had unveiled a new range of medium and heavy commercial vehicles aimed at the haulage, construction and mining segments of the industry. The company’s Bhuj plant in has an installed capacity of 24,000 fully built vehicles such as tippers and trucks and a capacity of 15 million units for wheel rims and 45,000 tonnes of press metal sheets and components... * Russia - Truck maker KamAZ posts $50 mln half-yearly loss
Moscow,Russia -RIA Novosti -August 13, 2009: -- Russia's largest truck producer KamAZ announced on Thursday net losses according to Russian Accounting Standards of 1.62 billion rubles ($50 million) in January-June 2009... KamAZ, based in the Volga Republic of Tatarstan, posted a net profit of 2.63 billion rubles ($82 million) in the same period last year... KamAZ produces more than 30 models of trucks, as well as trailers, buses, tractors and spare parts. It also manufactures engines, power units, and components...
