BUREAUCRATIC AFFAIRS * UK - VOSA intransigence frustrates Irish hauliers
VOSA (UK), and its unwillingness to listen to commonsense
Holyhead,UK -HGV (Ireland) -7 June 2009: -- Another Irish haulage company has voiced it frustration at the intransigence of the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) in the UK and its unwillingness to listen to commonsense... The haulage company, which does not wish to be named in case of VOSA recriminations explained: "One of our trucks was stopped (November 2008) on route to Holyhead. According to VOSA he was overweight on the steering axle, whilst the drive axle and trailer axles were well within legal limits. That's a physical impossibility. We had to contract a tri-axle TU to pull the trailer to the port, which was 10 miles away... We gave load details to the manufacturer (MAN) who did a computerised analysis and confirmed our suspicion that is was impossible that the steering axle was overweight. In fact it was nearly 1,000 kgs below the legal limit"... (Picture: hankstruckpictures: Man omega truck)
