Antique Truck * Fire dept. spent 10 years restoring 1937 American LaFrance pumper

Dover,DEL,USA -The Daily Record, by MELANIE HIRSHBERG -June 5, 2009: -- After 10 years of labor and countless dollars, the Dover Fire Department Antique Club is ready to show off its refurbished 1937 American LaFrance truck at the Dover Fire Department's 135th Anniversary Parade on Saturday... Purchased for $8,000 in the 1930s, a fire engine today begins at around $200,000. The antique club paid the town of Dover $1 for the American LaFrance, which was in service until the 1980s... The engine will join the club's other antique fire equipment in the parade, including a hand-pumper dating back to 1812. A previously renovated 1885 Steam Pumping Engine will be on display, which produced water pressure by creating steam, much like a modern day boiler. This was originally drawn by horses Mae, Blossom, Burt and Billy...
