MEXICANS' TRUCKS * USA - Companies Call On US Government To End Dispute Over Mexican Truckers

Washington,DC,USA -AFP/Dow Jones -April 8, 2009: -- More than 150 industrial giants have called on Washington to end a multi-billion-dollar trade dispute over Mexican truckers entering the United States, in a joint letter released Wednesday... Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT), General Electric Co. (GE) and the American Farm Bureau Federation were among those who urged President Barack Obama "to work expeditiously" to end the dispute which has resulted in billions of dollars in tariffs being slapped on U.S. goods... As Obama prepares for the mid-April Summit of the Americas on the Caribbean island of Trinidad, "it will be critical for him to lead by example and demonstrate to our trading partners that the United States lives by its word," said Chuck Dittrich, a top official with the National Foreign Trade Council..
