STRIKE * S. Africa - Road Freight Pay Strike Enters Second Day

Johannesburg,South Africa -Bloomberg, by Nicky Smith -April 8, 2009: -- A strike by South African road freight workers, which may disrupt fuel supplies across Africa’s largest economy, entered a second day as talks to break a deadlock over minimum wages and working conditions continued... Negotiations will carry on today, Magretia Brown, a spokeswoman for the Johannesburg-based Road Freight Employer’s Association, said by phone today. The “majority of our operators are still operating as per usual which shows that their contingency plans are working,” she said..
