TRUCKMAKERS' NEWS * Europe - No show leads to ERTS cancellation
The 2009 European Road Transport Show (ERTS) at the RAI in Amsterdam has been cancelled after all the major truck manufacturers pulled out
Amsterdam,Holland -The Road Transpor, by Roanna Avison -16 December 2008: -- Daf had already made known its intentions not to have a presence at RAI in 2009... "After discussions with all the truck manufacturers we decided that because of the economic conditions we would not hold the European Road Transport Show in 2009"... She adds that smaller LCV producers and manufacturers of specialist products were also consulted and agreed with the decision to cancel the event, which was scheduled for autumn 2009... The organisers expect the next show in 2011 to go ahead... Tony Pain, marketing director at Daf, says: "As with all manufacturers we reviewed the state of the market we expect for next year and given the current economic conditions it's looking pretty grim in terms of requirements for vehicles"...

* France - Renault Optifuel 2010 'can cut fuel use by 10%'
Lyon,France -The Road Transport (UK) -31 December 2008: -- Renault's recently unveiled 'Optifuel Generation 2010' aerodynamic artic, based on a modified Renault Premium tractor and highly-streamlined Lamberet trailer, can cut fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 10% compared with a conventional vehicle, according to the French truck-maker...
