STRIKE * India - Transporters strike from Monday
Jaipur,India -The Times of India -4 Jan 2009: -- From Monday, close to three lakh trucks in the state will stay put on the roads as the transporters here join the nationwide strike being called by the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC)... Prime on the national agenda are the demands for reducing diesel price by Rs 10 per litre and applying a uniform 4% VAT on the fuel among other things. Joining the nationwide strike the Rajasthan Truck Transportation Union is also pressing for its state specific demands. The operators want the government to look into the irregularities in the value tax, SAF imposed on the sale of petrol and diesel...
