Diesels New crop of cars to offer neck-snapping acceleration of gas
USA -MSNBC, by Dan Carney -March 25, 2008: -- Diesel-powered vehicles haven’t enjoyed the best reputation in the United States, despite the well-known benefit of impressive fuel efficiency. Consumers still think about the noisiness,ear-rattling racket, black clouds of exhaust from the diesel of yesteryear, and, ahem, let’s call it “stately” acceleration... Diesel now seen by many as "the future of performance technology"... New generation of diesels ready to alter some long-held conceptions. Many diesels arriving for 2009 as automakers work to boost fuel economy of their fleets to meet requirements... US emissions standards currently require diesel cars to be as clean as gas-powered cars... National Academy of Sciences is hoping for large increase in diesel vehicles because of fuel-savings potential...
