* Russia - First Russian-Japanese joint enterprise for the production of trucks opens in Tatarstan
Kazan,Tatarstan,Russia -Itar/Tass -April 6, 2008: -- The first in Russia, Russian-Japanese joint enterprise for the production of trucks, Severstal-Isuzu, will be commissioned in Tatarstan on Sunday... Medium trucks with the carrying capacity of 5.5 tons with Euro 3 engine have become the premiere of the new enterprise, Tatarstan’s Minister for Industry and Trade Alexander Kogogin told Tass... The plant will produce 25,000 trucks a year. Under the business project, it will be producing in the future a full assortment of trucks with the capacity from five to 22 tons, the minister said...
* China - Sinotruck's heavy duty truck hit monthly sales high
Beijing,China -Xinhua -5 April 2008: -- China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Corp (Sinotruck), one of the county's largest truck producer, sold a monthly record of 15,000 heavy duty trucks in March... Sales of heavy duty trucks in the first quarter hit 32,500 units, an increase of 41 percent over the same period of last year, according to the company... Sales revenue totaled 10 billion yuan ($1.43 billion) in the first quarter, up more than 40 percent year on year...
