Sand mafia * Argelie - Looses 88 and 78 trucks in Boumerdés
Crack down on sea shore sand stealers

Ahmed) -10 Feb 2008: -- National Gendarmerie brigades in Boumerdès, centre costal province, have arrested 88 people pertaining to sand stealing networks, while seizing 88 trucks during inspection visits targeting the paths these networks’ trucks take... The National Gendarmerie campaign is still underway, at the same time the sand mafia still stealing the shore sand under the protection of the terrorist groups; in Boudouaou Marine municipality, Boumerdès, the mafia networks are exploiting tens of young people for the sand stealing, starting at midnight transporting these sand quantities to secure places on the back of donkeys... During our visit to the region, we discovered that these networks use agriculture lands to stock the sand quantities, to hence transport it onboard of trucks in view of skipping the security services ambushes. The network bosses pay enormous sums for young people, as like Boudouaou Marine and Corso municipalities beaches which have been disfigured by this mafia bosses who pay big amounts exploiting these people, a truck full of sand is amounting 15 thousand AD (U$S 223.547)... National Gendarmerie has stepped up its activities at many places, 88 people involved with sand mafia have been put behind bars during the last few months, including 73, which have been brought into justice, in this regard 78 trucks have been seized, according to the National Gendarmerie Group in Boumerdés, who are facing difficulties in the roads taken by the sand stealers, due to the lack of lighting along these rural paths. This situation could help them, also the existing of some workshops producing concrete blocks and other construction materials using these stolen sand quantities... Labels: mafia's trucking
