TRUCKER'S STORY * USA - A truck lover's paradise
Civic Center hosts big rigs, monster trucks simultaneously
Peoria,IL,USA -The Peoria Journal Star, by ED McMENAMIN -February 10, 2008: -- When you're away from home 25 days every month driving a semi truck, it only makes sense to ride in style... For Tim Braun of Hecker, that means custom-installing about $60,000 worth of additional features for his 2001 Kenworth W900L 18-wheeler... "It is home," he said. "That's the biggest reason I do work on the inside. And I do work on the outside because I like people to know I take pride in what I do"... He has put more than a million miles on his big rig in the past seven years... But features like custom wood flooring, a pillow-top mattress, flat-screen TV, DVD player, PlayStation game console and countless aesthetic touches make the long days and nights on the road bearable... Braun, a third-generation driver and part owner of family business William F. Braun Milk Hauling Inc., was one of 16 truckers who entered in Saturday's Truck Beauty Contest, one of many attractions at the 45th annual Midwest Truck Show. The event, sponsored by the Mid-West Truckers Association, was moved to the Peoria Civic Center from Springfield four years ago...
