* USA - More police officers dying in traffic wrecks
USA -Land Line Magazine -Dec 29, 2006: -- There was a 16 percent increase in the number of police officers killed in traffic wrecks in 2006 compared to the previous year, according to a report from two national police organizations... Those groups - National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Fund, and Concerns of Police Survivors - reported that 73 of the 151 officers killed this year died in traffic crashes... The groups say they don't know how many officers were wearing seatbelts in those accidents, but a spokesman for one of the organizations said some officers don't like to wear a seatbelt because it can interfere with un-holstering a sidearm...
